Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State shut out Wichita State 3-0 in the first game of a three-game series.
Starter A.J. Ladwig went eight innings and gave up three runs, one earned, on 11 hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Casey Gillaspie went 2-for-4 to lead the Shockers.
The Sycamores jumped on the board in the fourth inning. Jacob Hayes led off the inning with a double and scored on a double from Mike Fitzgerald to give INS a 1-0 lead.
Fitzgerald singled with one out in the eighth and moved to second on a two-out Shocker error. With runners at first and second, Jeff Zahn doubled to right field to drive in both for a 3-0 Sycamore lead.
The Shockers and Sycamores meet in game two today and finish the series on Sun., April 6 at 12 p.m. Central time.
