WICHITA, Kan – No. 9 Oklahoma State used a combined shutout from two pitchers to defeat Wichita State 3-0 on Wednesday at Eck Stadium. The Shockers fell to 22-23 while the Cowboys moved to 32-13.

Tyler Nurdin picked up the win for the Cowboys to move to 3-3 on the year. He went five innings while just giving up three hits and had four strikeouts. Garrett Williams pitched the other four shutout innings to pick up his second save of the season while giving up just three hits and striking out six.

Kris Gardner took the loss to drop to 1-3 on the year. He pitched five innings and gave up two runs on six hits while striking out seven.

Zach Fish and Tim Arakawa led the Cowboys on offense. Fish went 3-5 and Arakawa went 2-5 with a double and two RBI. Zair Koeiman led the way for Wichita State by going 2-4 with a double.

The game was scoreless through the first three innings. No. 9 Oklahoma State plated the first two runs of the game in the top of the fourth to give the Cowboys a 2-0 lead. Arakawa hit a two-RBI double to right center, scoring Aaron Cornell and Fish.

Either team did not score a run until the top of the ninth when Cornell hit a sacrifice fly to right that scored Fish to give the Cowboys the final 3-0 score.

Wichita State's next game will be against Bradley on Friday at Eck Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
