Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – Stephen F. Austin used eight shutout innings from starter Cameron Gann to defeat Wichita State 1-0 in game one of a three-game series.
WSU starter A.J. Ladwig pitched seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
The Lumberjacks scored the only run of the game in the second inning. Nick Ramos led off with a single and with two outs, scored from first on a double down the right field line from Brett Thornell.
The Shockers threatened in the eighth and ninth with a runner at second with one out, but could not score the tying run.
The two teams play game two on Sat., March 8 at 2 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
