Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State volleyball team defeated Bradley 3-0 on Saturday night inside Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers won by scores of 25-11, 25-19 and 26-24.
Wichita State was led by Abbie Lehman, who was 15-for-15 (1.000) in attacking, breaking the Shocker record for hitting percentage in a match. Janelle Watton, who hit .917 against Tulsa on Nov. 16, 1991, held the previous record. Lehman's attacking percentage in the match also ties an NCAA record.
Emily Hiebert added 26 assists and Dani Mostrom contributed 11 digs in the Shocker victory.
The Shockers used a 5-0 run to go in front 15-6 in the first set and a block by Jenny Whitledge increased the lead to 20-8. WSU finished the set on a 5-1 run to win 25-11.
The Braves took an early 6-3 lead in the second set, but the Shockers came back to tie it at 10 on a service ace by MaryAshton Floyd. A kill by Katie Reilly gave the Shocks a 15-13 lead and a Reilly service ace increased the lead to 19-15. The Braves closed to within 21-18, but the Shockers closed out the set 25-19.
A kill by Katie Reilly early in the third set gave Wichita State a 9-8 advantage, but the Braves continued to fight, tying the score at 10-10 a few points later. The two teams continued to trade points the rest of the set, with neither team gaining more than a one-point advantage. Ashlyn Driskill gave Wichita State its fourth-straight win with a kill to seal the set, 26-24.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 31 at Drake at 7 p.m.
