Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Wichita State hit .354 on its way to a 3-0 win over Evansville. The Shockers won by scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-21.
Jenny Whitledge led the Shockers with 12 kills and hit .370, while Ashlyn Driskill had 10 kills and hit .391. Emily Hiebert had 42 assists and 11 digs and Dani Mostrom had 15 digs.
The Shockers raced out to a 4-1 lead in the first set and used two-straight kills from Ashlyn Driskill to increase the lead to 10-5. Two kills each from MaryAshton Floyd and Jenny Whitledge made the score 22-10 and WSU used a service ace from Dani Mostrom to win the set 25-12.
The second set went back and forth until a 6-1 Shocker run gave WSU a 10-5 lead. A 5-0 run increased the lead to 19-10 and WSU won the set 25-16 on a kill from Whitledge.
WSU jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead in the third set, but the Aces came back to tie it at 18. The two teams traded points until a kill by Whitledge and a service ace by Katie Reilly put WSU up 22-20. The Shockers closed the match on a 3-0 win to win 25-21.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 24 when they host Loyola at 7 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
