SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri State hit .258 as a team on the way to a five-set win over Wichita State. The Bears won by scores of 24-26, 25-20, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-10.

Abbie Lehman tied her career-high with 16 kills and hit .500, while Jenny Whitledge had a career-high 15 kills and 13 digs. Jaclyn Roddy added a career-high nine kills and hit .308. Emily Hiebert had 41 assists and 18 digs, while Dani Mostrom had 19 digs.

The Shockers jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first set, but the Bears used a 4-0 run to pull within 11-8. A kill by Katie Dudzinski put WSU up 18-14, but MSU used a 3-0 run to make the score 18-17. The Shockers answered with a 5-0 run to take a 23-17 lead, but the Bears scored seven of the next eight points to tie it at 24. A kill by Jaclyn Roddy and a Bear hitting error gave WSU a 26-24 win.

The second set went back and forth until a service ace put the Bears up 11-8. A kill by Dudzinski tied it at 14 and a kill by Katie Reilly gave the Shocks a 16-14 lead. A kill by Jenny Whitledge put WSU up 18-17, but the Bears scored eight of the final 10 points to win 25-20.

The two teams traded points in the third set until a service ace gave the Bears a 13-10 lead. A 6-0 run by the Bears increased the lead to 20-12 and the Shockers got no closer than six the rest of the way in the 25-18 MSU win.

A block by Roddy and Lehman gave WSU a 12-7 lead in the fourth set and a kill by Lehman increased the lead to 19-13. The Bears pulled to within 21-18 with a block, but the Shockers closed out the set 25-22 on a kill by Katie Reilly.

WSU took an early 3-1 lead in the fifth set, but the Bears used five-straight kills to take a 6-3 lead. Four-straight hitting errors by the Shockers increased the Bear lead to 13-6 and MSU won the set 15-10.

The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 17 at Southern Illinois at 7 p.m.
