Box Score OREM, Utah – Arizona State used 16 kills from Breelle Bailey to defeat Wichita State 3-0 in the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational. The Sun Devils won by scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-16.
Elizabeth Field led the Shockers with six kills and hit .429, while Chelsey Feekin had five kills, 20 assists and seven digs. Jordan Hinkle led the Shockers with eight digs.
A Katie Reilly kill gave the Shocks an early 5-3 lead in the first set and an error by the Sun Devils increased the lead to 13-9. ASU battled back to take a 17-16 lead and after the Shockers tied it at 19, ASU reeled off a 3-0 run to go in front 22-19. The Sun Devils went on to win the set 25-22.
The Shockers used back-to-back blocks to take a 6-4 lead in the second set, but it was all Sun Devils after that. ASU used a 12-0 run to lead 16-6 and won the set 25-9.
The third set went back-and-forth until ASU used a 4-0 run to take a 6-3 lead. The Sun Devils opened up an 18-9 lead after a WSU error and won the set 25-16.
The Shockers are next in action tonight against Utah Valley at 8 p.m.
