Box Score NORMAL, Ill. – Wichita State used a complete game shutout from Kris Gardner to defeat Indiana State 5-0 on day three of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
Gardner allowed seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his first career complete game.
Tyler Baker went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two doubles, while Casey Gillaspie went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double.
The Shockers will take on the Sycamores at 12:37 p.m. on Fri., May 24 with the winner advancing to Saturday's championship game.
Tyler Baker led off the sixth with a double and moved to third on an infield single from Casey Gillaspie. Baker scored on Johnny Coy's sacrifice fly to right field and Gillaspie scored on a two-out single from Mikel Mucha to put the Shocks in front 2-0.
The Shockers used a two-out rally to add to the lead in the seventh. With two outs, Garrett Bayliff walked and scored on a double from Baker. Gillaspie then doubled off the centerfield wall to give the Shocks a 4-0 lead.
Bayliff singled to right field with one out in the ninth and moved to third on a fielding error by the right fielder. Bayliff scored on a sacrifice fly from Baker for a 5-0 lead.
