Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- After holding Oklahoma State scoreless for six innings, Wichita State dropped a 7-2 final to the 16th ranked Cowboys.

Despite tossing six scoreless frames, Kris Gardner took the loss. He falls to 2-6 on the season. He allowed just two runs, one earned, with three hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. The sophomore also hit a batter.

Kenton Bevacqua improved his record to 2-2.  The senior tossed 6.1 innings allowing just one run on six hits. Bevacqua struck out seven Shockers and surrendered just one free pass.

The Shockers broke up the pitchers' duel in the sixth inning. Tanner Dearman slugged a one out triple. Dearman came around to score on a Garrett Bayliff single. Bayliff went 3-3 and reached base in each of his four plate appearances.

Oklahoma State retaliated quickly. Gage Green reached base after being plunked by Gardner.  A throwing error allowed Green to advance to third and Aaron Cornell to get aboard. This at-bat ended Gardners's outing.

With runners at the corners, Randy McCurry delivered a pinch-hit two-RBI double to give the Cowboys a 2-1 lead. Saulyer Saxon chased McCurry home with a double of his own.

Tanner Kreitemeyer added to the lead when a fielding error allowed Saxon to cross home. The Cowboys took a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning stretch.

Oklahoma State added to their advantage with three runs in the eighth. Cornell, Saxon and Donnie Walton drove in teammates to give the Cowboys a 7-1 lead after eight.

Casey Gillaspie slugged his first home run in 32 games when he launched a drive to left- center. The ninth-inning dinger was Gillaspie's team leading eighth of the season as the Shockers closed the gap to 7-2. However, WSU could not cut into the Oklahoma State lead any further as Alex Hackerott retired the final three Shockers he faced.

The Shockers will play host to Northwestern this weekend to wrap up their 2013 home schedule. This final home series will begin Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
