WICHITA, Kan.- Arizona State used four runs in the first inning to defeat Wichita State 4-2 on Wednesday night at Eck Stadium.

Zach Beringer took the loss for Wichita State, allowing four runs on four hits in 0.2 innings. Cody Bobbit went 2-for-5 at the plate.

Zak Miller grabbed the win for the Sun Devils, allowing one run on seven hits in five innings. Trever Allen went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Arizona State jumped on the Shockers in the top of the first. After Wichita State retired the first two batters, the Sun Devils loaded the bases before Allen hit a triple to right field. Nathaniel Causey singled in the next at-bat to score Allen and put Arizona State up, 4-0.

After back-to-back singles by Bobbit and Garrett Bayliff and a walk by Casey Gillaspie, Tyler Baker hit a sacrifice fly to center field that plated Bobbit and cut the Sun Devil lead to 4-1 after five.

Erik Harbutz led-off the sixth inning with a double, moved to third on a groundout by Mikel Mucha and scored on a groundout by Tanner Dearman to put the Arizona State lead at 4-2.

The Shockers will continue Missouri Valley Conference play with a weekend series against Indiana State April 5-7. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m.
