Box Score CONWAY, Ark. - Central Arkansas snapped Wichita State's four-game
winning streak with a 6-3 win over the Shockers.
Casey Gillaspie, Johnny Coy, Micah Green and Daniel Kihle
each had two hits for the Shockers. Starter Cale Elam took the loss. He went
3.2 innings and gave up four runs, one earned, on four hits with five
strikeouts.
The Bears used a leadoff double in the first along with a
sacrifice bunt and a groundout to take a 1-0 lead. UCA added three more in the third on just one
hit, two walks, two hit by pitch and a Shocker error for a 4-0 lead.
The Shockers finally scored in the fifth with an RBI single
from Johnny Coy to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Bears responded with two more
in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-1 lead.
WSU used a two-out rally in the eighth to score a couple of
runs. Erik Harbutz singled and moved to third on a double by Micah Green. Dayne Parker drove in Harbutz with a single
and Tyler Baker's pinch hit single drove home Green to cut the lead to 6-3.
The Shockers are next in action on Sun., March 3 against
Iowa at 10 a.m.
