Box Score LONG BEACH, Calif.- Long Beach State scored the go ahead run
in the seventh inning and added an insurance run in the eighth to win 3-1 in
game two of a three-game series.
Daniel Kihle drove in the lone Shocker run and also had two
hits. Starter Kris Gardner took the
loss. He pitched seven innings and gave up two runs on six hits.
Jeff McNeil led off with a triple to right field in the
first inning and scored on a one-out single from Jeff Yamaguchi to give the
Dirtbags an early 1-0 lead.
The Shockers tied it at one in the third inning. Dayne
Parker led off with a single to left field and advanced to second on a
sacrifice bunt from Parker Zimmerman. Parker then scored on a two-out single
from Daniel Kihle.
Long Beach State retook the lead with a run in the seventh.
Richard Prigatano singled to left field to lead off the inning and then Zach
Miller and Colton Vaughn both singled with two outs to take a 2-1 lead.
The Dirtbags added an insurance run in the eighth for the
3-1 win.
The Shockers and Dirtbags wrap up the series at 3 p.m.
