Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State defeated North Dakota 9-3 on
Wednesday afternoon at Eck Stadium. Micah Green went 3-for-5 at the plate with
three RBI, a double and a triple.
Aaron LaBrie got the win for Wichita State, allowing one run
on two hits in 2.2 innings. Erik Harbutz went 2-for-3 with a triple and two
walks. Daniel Kihle went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a home run and a walk.
Trent Egan took the loss for North Dakota, allowing seven runs on
10 hits in six innings. Patrick Vandoorne went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Johnny Coy got the Shockers on the board in the third inning
on a groundout that scored Taylor Doggett. After Harbutz walked in the next
at-bat, Green singled to plate the Shocker third baseman. Dayne Parker put
Wichita State 3-0 with another single to score Green.
North Dakota scored a run in the top of the fourth on a
single to center field by Jeff Campbell that scored Taylor Petersen.
Daniel Kihle answered for Wichita State in the bottom of the
fourth by hitting a two-run home run that also scored Tanner Kirk who singled
to lead-off inning. It was Kihle's first homer of the season.
Vandoorne scored to cut the Shocker lead to 5-2 in fifth on
a bases-loaded walk. Vandoorne scored again in the seventh for North Dakota on
a single up the middle by Tyler Follis.
Wichita State broke the game open in it's half of the
seventh. After back-to-back walks by Casey Gillaspie and Coy and a single by
Harbutz, Micah Green hit a bases-loaded triple to left field. Two batters later, Parker Zimmerman singled
to score Green and put the Shockers up, 9-3.
The Shockers head to Long Beach, Calif. for a three-game
series against Long Beach State on March 15-17.
