DENTON, Texas- Montse Blasco Fernandez grabbed the only
point of the day for Wichita State as the Shockers fell 4-1 to North Texas on
Sunday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The Shocker women went down a point early by dropping the
first two doubles contests. Blasco Fernandez defeated Ilona Serchenko, 6-3, 6-2
to put Wichita State on the board. North Texas clinched the match when
Valentina Starkova took down Julia Schiller, 6-2, 6-3.
Rebecca Pedrazzi and Veronika Blaskova were ahead in the
third set of their contests when play was suspended.
The Shockers will head to Charleston,
S.C. on Monday, March 18 for a match against College of Charleston. First serve
is set for 12 p.m.
