WBB: Shockers Race Past Redhawks, 67-46

WICHITA, Kan.- Michaela Dapprich scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting as the Wichita State women's basketball team defeated Southeast Missouri State, 67-46, Saturday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena.

Alex Harden scored 14 and tied a career-high nine assists, while Michelle Price scored 13 and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in the victory.

The Shockers jumped out to a 10-4 lead when an Alex Harden driving layup forced a Southeast Missouri State timeout at the 16:01 mark in the first half. Two minutes later, a three-pointer by Michaela Dapprich put the score at 13-4. Harden scored again at the 12:38 mark with a baseline two-point jumper to put Wichita State up 17-8.

Alie Decker nailed her first three-pointer of the game with 7:34 remaining in the half to put the Shockers lead at 30-13. Later, Southeast Missouri State scored five straight points, but Harden ended their mini-run with a three-pointer of her own as the shot clock expired to put the score at 35-17.

Wichita State went into the half up 40-21, shooting 17-for-30 (.567) from the field, and holding the Redhawks to 7-of-25 (.280) shooting. Alex Harden led all scorers with 11 points, while also handing out six assists. Alie Decker added eight points, going 3-for-6 from the field, including 2-for-5 from behind the arc.

A free throw early in the second half from Price started a 10-2 run for Wichita State. Price capped the run with a layup that put the Shockers up 53-27 with 13:08 remaining in the game.

The Shockers controlled the rest of the game, and Harden completed a three-point play at the 2:39 mark to put Wichita State up 63-38. A jumper by Kayla White with 22 seconds left would cap it off for the Shockers and give them a second straight 20-point victory, 67-46.

Wichita State held Southeast Missouri to 28 percent (15-for-53) shooting from the field and 22 percent (2-for-9) from behind the arc and forced 19 turnovers in the victory. The Shockers finished the game shooting 42 percent (25-for-59) from the field and dished out 15 assists.

Wichita State will welcome Air Force to Charles Koch Arena Sun., Dec. 1 with the tip scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
