Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State volleyball team defeated Loyola 3-0 on Saturday night inside Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers won by scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-9.
Ashley Andrade led the Shocker attack with 14 kills and hit .765. Chelsey Feekin added 34 assists and nine digs, while Dani Mostrom also had nine digs.
A kill by Ashlyn Driskill put Wichita State up 6-3 early in the first set, and forced an early Loyola timeout. Another Shocker kill by Ashley Andrade and an attacking error on the Ramblers stretched the Shocker lead to 8-3, but Loyola fought back and tied the score at 11. The teams went back-and-forth until a service ace by Katie Reilly put Wichita State up three, 16-13. The Ramblers cut the lead to one later in the set, but the Shockers scored eight of the last nine points to win the set, 25-18.
The Shockers scored five straight points early in the second set to go up 8-2, and went up 11-4 later in the set on a kill by Chelsey Feekin. The Ramblers never threatened the rest of the way, and Wichita State took the second set 25-12 on a kill by Taylor Brownlee.
Back-to-back kills by Driskill put Wichita State up 7-2 in the third set. The Shockers went on a 5-0 run later in the set to take a 21-8 lead and scored nine of the last 10 points to take the set 25-9.
Wichita State is next in action against Drake on Fri., Oct. 25 inside Charles Koch Arena at 7 p.m.
