Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Wichita State scored four runs in the
third inning on the way to an 8-2 win over Indiana State in game three of the
series.
Dayne Parker went 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Taylor Doggett
went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Starter A.J. Ladwig improved to 4-1 with the win. He went six innings and gave up two runs on
seven hits with no walks and one strikeout.
Albert Minnis earned the save with three shutout innings in relief.
The Shockers took their first lead in the series with a runs
in the third inning. With one out, Josh
Halbert reached on an error and scored on a triple to right-centerfield by Erik
Harbutz. Dayne Parker singled up the
middle to score Harbutz to give WSU a 2-0 lead.
Parker advanced to second on a balk and after a walk to Don Lambert,
both runners advanced on a throwing error by the pitcher on a failed pickoff
attempt. Casey Gillaspie's sac fly to
left field scored Parker and Micah Green doubled to left field to bring home
Lambert for a 4-0 lead.
WSU used a two-out rally to add to the lead in the sixth
inning. Mikel Mucha singled with two
outs and after a walk to Tyler Baker, Taylor Doggett tripled to
left-centerfield to put the Shocks in front 6-0.
The Sycamores got on the board in the sixth inning. Owen Conway singled with one out and scored
on a double by Jeremy Lucas. After Baker
picked Lucas off of second base, Rob Ort homered to right field to cut the lead
to 6-2.
WSU tacked on two runs in the ninth. After a leadoff walk to Doggett, Halbert
sacrificed him to second and a two-out single from Parker brought home Doggett
to give the Shocks a 7-2 lead. Lambert
then doubled to right field to score Parker for an 8-2 advantage.
The Shockers are next in action on Wed., May 9 when they
host Alcorn State at Eck Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
