Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - Kris Gardner and Cale Elam combined for a
six-hit shutout as Wichita State defeated Creighton 2-0 in game two of a
three-game series.
Kris Gardner threw six shutout innings and allowed six hits
with two walks and two strikeouts and improved to 5-1 on the season. Cale Elam threw three shutout innings with
two strikeouts to earn his ninth save.
Don Lambert went 2-for-3, while Kevin Hall went 2-for-4.
Casey Gillaspie led off the seventh inning with a double to
right field and moved to third on a wild pitch.
After a walk to Mikel Mucha, Ryan Hege's fly ball to left field scored
Gillaspie to give the Shocks a 1-0 lead.
WSU added a run in the eighth with help from the
Bluejays. Josh Halbert reached base on
an error and after another Bluejay error put him at third, Dayne Parker
grounded into a double play to score Halbert and put the Shocks in front 2-0.
The Shockers and Bluejays play game three of the series at 1
p.m. on Sat., May 19.
