Box Score MANHATTAN, Kan. - Don Lambert's two-run double in the top of
the 15th inning gave Wichita State a 9-7 win over Kansas State.
A.J. Ladwig earned the win to improve to 3-1. He pitched five shutout innings and did not
allow a hit as he struck out two.
Dayne Parker finished 4-for-6, while Lambert went 2-for-6
with four RBI. Ryan Hege went 2-for-6
with three RBI.
Erik Harbutz led off the second inning with a single through
the left side to extend his career-best hitting streak to nine games. Don Lambert then homered to right field to
give the Shocks an early 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the second
inning. Wade Hinkle led off with a walk
and moved to second on a wild pitch. He
moved to third on a groundout to second and scored on a groundout to short.
The Shockers led off the third inning with a single from
Dayne Parker, a walk to Johnny Coy, a single by Casey Gillaspie, a double by
Harbutz, a walk to Lambert and a single by Ryan Hege to take a 6-1 lead.
A two-run home run from Jared King cut the lead to 6-3 in
the fourth and the Wildcats scored four in the sixth including a three-run home
run from Dan Klein to take a 7-6 lead.
Hege's solo home run in the eighth tied the game at seven
and WSU won it with two runs in the 15th on a double from Lambert.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 27 when they
host Dallas Baptist at 6:30 p.m.
