Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Evansville scored a run in the eighth
inning to take a 5-4 win over Wichita State.
Cale Elam took the loss.
He went one inning and gave up one run on two hits. Six different players had a hit for the
Shockers, while four different players drove in a run.
Kevin Hall walked with one out in the first, stole second,
reached third on a throwing error and scored on an RBI double to left-center by
Johnny Coy to put the Shocks up 1-0.
Jason Hockemeyer doubled with one out in the second and with
two outs Mormann walked the next two batters and balked in Hockemeyer to tie
the score at one. He retired Eric
Stamets to get out of trouble and keep the score tied.
Jake Mahon led off the third with a single and with one out,
Kevin Kaczmarski tripled to give UE a 2-1 lead.
A groundout scored Kaczmarski to put the Aces up 3-1.
In the fourth, Erik Harbutz tripled to right field with a
runner at first and two outs to pull the Shocks to within 3-2 and then Dayne
Parker doubled down the left field line to tie the score at three. Tyler Baker singled to give WSU a 4-3 lead.
The Aces used a walk, wild pitch and single to tie the score
at four in the fifth and took the lead with a run in the eighth.
The Shocks and Aces play game three of the series on Sun.,
April 15 at 1 p.m.
