Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - A.J. Ladwig threw six shutout innings in his
first career start to lead Wichita State to a 5-1 win over UT-Arlington.
Ladwig allowed just three hits with no walks and four
strikeouts to improve to 1-0 on the year.
Taylor Doggett went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Shockers, while Kevin
Hall went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
The Shockers got on the board in the first inning. Doggett led off with an infield single and
after stealing second base, Johnny Coy drove him in with one out for a 1-0
lead.
WSU added to its lead in the second inning. The Shockers batted around and used hits from
Ryan Hege, Dayne Parker, Kevin Hall and Taylor Doggett to score four runs and
take a 5-0 lead.
UTA scored its only run of the game in the seventh inning as
Matt Shortall homered off of Kyle Bouman.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 9 when they
host Tulane at 3 p.m.
