Taylor Doggett led Wichita State with three hits in the Shockers' 9-4 baseball win
against South Alabama Wednesday night at Eck Stadium.

first inning, but the Shockers scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to
take a lead they held the remainder of the game.
Wichita State ended a three-game losing skid, improving to
15-13 this season. South Alabama's record dropped to 10-15, as the teams split
their two-game series.
Doggett finished the game hitting 3-for-4. Coy, Casey
Gillaspie and Micah Green each had two hits for Wichita State.
Shocker pitcher Tobin Mateychick (2-0) got the win and South
Alabama's Andrew Fonzi (0-3) was credited with the loss.
Tyler Coughenour's two-RBI single up the middle scored Green
and Gillaspie for a 4-3 lead in the first inning.

Wichita State a 5-3 edge. The homerun was Coy's fifth of the season.
Doggett scored on Coy's sacrifice fly to left field in the
fourth inning for a 6-3 lead.
An RBI single from South Alabama's Nick Zaharion in the
fifth inning cut the Shockers' lead to two runs, but that was the closest the
visiting Jaguars would get on the scoreboard.
The Shockers added three runs in the eighth inning. Tyler
Baker scored when Dayne Parker lined out to centerfield and Gillaspie's two-RBI
triple pushed the Shockers ahead, 9-4.

series opens at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Eck Stadium.
