Box Score WICHITA, Kan. — Long Beach State took an early three-run
lead in the first inning and went on to a 13-1 win Saturday afternoon against
Wichita State at Eck Stadium.
The Shockers' lone run of the game came in the seventh
inning, as senior Kevin Hall extended his hitting streak to a career-high 13
games on a homerun to left field.
The visiting Dirtbags (7-14) scored three or more runs in
the first, fourth and sixth innings and finished the game with 16 hits. They
evened the weekend series, 1-1, with the Shockers in front of a crowd of 3,167.
Wichita State had five hits Saturday, as they fell to 14-11
on the season.
Pitcher Ryan Strufing got the win for the Dirtbags (3-1) and
Shocker Albert Minnis (1-4) was credited with the loss.
Dayne Parker led the Shockers with two hits.
Ino Patron and Johnny Bekakis paced Long Beach State with
three hits each. Brennan Metzger had three RBI for the Dirtbags.
The three-game series concludes with a 1 p.m. game Sunday at
Eck Stadium.
