Box Score WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State baseball team fell to the
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, 7-1, Tuesday night at Eck Stadium.
A.J. Ladwig took the loss for Wichita State. He pitched five
innings, allowing five runs on six hits, and striking out four.
Tyler Baker went 2-for-4 with a double.
Oral Roberts would get on the board first with four unearned
runs in the second inning. With two outs in the inning, Chris Williams reached
on an error by Dayne Parker. Then, after Bennett Pickar singled, Tyler Coker
hit a three-run inside the park homerun to put the Golden Eagles up, 4-0.
The Golden Eagles added one more in the fifth on a Kevin Cho
single that scored Coker.
A two-run homerun in the sixth by Chris Williams would stretch the Oral Roberts lead to 7-0.
The Shockers would stop the shutout in the bottom of the
ninth. Conner Knight got the first hit and RBI of his career when he hit a
single to left field to score Don Lambert.
Wichita State will look to bounce back on Thursday afternoon
against No. 24 Purdue. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
