WICHITA, Kan. - Honorable Mention
All-Americans Paul Miller (basketball) and Sara Lungren (volleyball) have been
selected as the 2013 Class of the Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall
of Fame.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for halftime
of Wichita State's 7:05 p.m., Jan. 26 men's basketball game against Bradley,
while a luncheon is set for Noon, Jan. 26 in the Charles Koch Arena Champion's
Club.
Cost for the luncheon is $25 per person, and paid
reservations must be made to the Shocker Ticket Office by calling 316/978-FANS,
or in person at the WSU Ticket Office located on the South side of Charles Koch
Arena.
The addition of this year's class brings the
total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 124, while
there are 12 at-large selections.
Here's a quick look at each 2013 inductee's success at
Wichita State:
Paul Miller, Basketball (2001-06)
Honorable Mention AP All-America Paul Miller
helped Wichita State to the Sweet 16 of the 2006 NCAA Tournament as the
Missouri Valley Conference's Player of the Year... He was also named to the
All-Valley team two times, including first team honors in 2006... The all-time
leader in games played until 2012, he ranks fifth with 128 games... At the end of
his career, he was ranked 15th in career scoring with 1,317 points,
and 10th in career blocks with 63... The Shockers advanced to
postseason play from 2002-06 with Miller as the starting center.
Sara Lungren, Volleyball (2004-07)
Sara Lungren was named honorable mention All-America
following the 2007 season when she also earned her second Missouri
Valley Conference Player of the Year honor after also garnering the honor in
2006... Her awards also included All-Central Region first team in 2007, and MVC
All-Freshman Team in 2004... An outstanding student she was also named to the
Academic All-District teams in both 2006 and 2007, and in 2008 was named the
Valley's Dr. Charlotte West Award winner... The Shockers advanced to the NCAA
Tournament twice during her career, including the 2007 season when WSU earned a
27-6 record and a 17-1 MVC record to win the conference championship.
