Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - The
Wichita State Shocker Volleyball team swept the Indiana State Sycamores 3-0
Saturday night in Charles Koch Arena. WSU improved to 13-5 on the season and
6-2 in the MVC.
Senior Emily Adney led the Shockers with 10 kills, while
junior Chelsey Feekin added nine kills and 28 assists and senior Jackie Church had
15 digs.
The Shockers jumped out to a 12-8 lead midway through the
first set, but the Sycamores drew within three at 19-16 after back-to-back
kills by Loni Mackinson. The Shockers closed out the first set by scoring five
points in a row to take the set, 25-17.
In the second set, both teams were tied three different
times before a kill by junior Ashlyn Driskill helped widen the gap to 19-14 for
the Shockers. ISU battled back and scored five of the next six points to come
within a point of tying the match at 20-19. The Shockers closed out the match
scoring five out of the last seven points to take the second set, 25-21.
The Shockers took an early 6-2 lead over the Sycamores and
never allowed ISU to get any closer. WSU expanded its lead to 16-8 after a kill
by junior Chelsey Feekin and later increased the lead to 19-9 after a service
ace by Driskill. The Shockers won the set 25-14.
The Shockers are next in action on Oct. 12 against Missouri
State in Springfield, Mo. at 7 p.m.
