WICHITA, Kan.-
Despite trailing in the first two sets, the Wichita State Shockers rallied to
sweep Bradley, 25-21, 25-23, 25-12.
Bradley (8-16, 2-11) built a 19-12 lead in the first set on
the strength of an early 7-1 run. An eight point run allowed the Shockers to
claim the lead.
Sam Sanders finished the first set with her 5th
kill of the match. Wichita State (17-6, 10-3) scored 13 of the last 15 points
to win the opening frame, 25-21.
Trailing 20-16 in set 2, the Shockers rallied once again. Sanders
capped the 25-23 set win with a service ace that gave the Shockers a two set
lead at the break.
WSU held Bradley to a .125 hitting percentage in the second
frame. The Braves finished with a .123 hitting percentage for the match.
A four-point run early in the third set gave the Shockers a
6-2 lead. Coach Lamb's squad controlled the final frame as they completed the
sweep of Bradley with a 25-12 win in set three. Wichita State hit .520 and held
the Braves to a .000 hitting percentage in the set.
Sanders led the Shockers with 13 kills and hit .440 on the
night. Chelsey Feekin tallied 33 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
The Shockers are next in action Fri., Nov. 2 at Indiana
State. Wichita State returns home to face Missouri State on Fri., Nov.9.
