Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Wichita State battled back to defeat
Missouri State 3-1 in Missouri Valley Conference action. The Shockers (14-5, 7-2) won by scores of
20-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21.
Sam Sanders led the Shockers with 15 kills, while Ashley
Andrade had 12 kills and Elizabeth Field and Emily Adney each had 10
kills. Chelsey Feekin had five kills, 45
assists and 11 digs, while Jackie Church had 16 digs.
The Bears jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set, but the
Shockers used a 5-0 run to go in front 7-6.
WSU increased the lead to 16-13, but MSU scored 12 of the final 16
points to win 25-20.
The second set went back-and-forth until the Shockers used a
kill from Sam Sanders to take a 12-9 lead.
A service ace by Jackie Church increased the lead to 18-14 and an ace by
Chelsey Feekin put WSU in front 21-15.
The Shockers won the set 25-18 on a Bear hitting error.
A kill by Elizabeth Field gave WSU a 5-3 lead in the third
set, but MSU answered with a 5-0 run to take an 8-5 lead. The Bears increased the lead to 18-13, but
WSU used kills from Ashley Andrade and Sam Sanders and an ace from Feekin to
tie the score at 19. A Bear hitting
error gave WSU the lead at 22-21 and a kill by Field won the set 25-23.
A kill by Feekin put WSU up 9-7 in the fourth set and block
by Field and Feekin increased the lead to 14-8.
The Bears would get no closer than three the rest of the way as the
Shockers closed out the set 25-21.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 19 at Southern
Illinois.
