Box Score WICHITA, Kan. - Indiana State held the Shockers to five hits
as the Sycamores shut out Wichita State 6-0 in game two of a three-game series.
Tyler Grimes, Chris O'Brien, Tyler Coughenour, Micah Green
and Walker Davidson each had a hit. O'Brien
singled in the fourth inning to increase his hitting streak to a career-best 20
games.
INS starter Sean Manaea went seven shutout innings with nine
strikeouts to earn the win. Jeff Miera
went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Sycamores, while Robby Ort went 2-for-4 with
two RBI.
Starter Brian Flynn (4-4) took the loss. He went four innings and allowed five runs on
eight hits.
Robby Ort's solo home run in the first gave the Sycamores an
early 1-0 lead. INS tacked on single
runs in the third and fourth to increase the lead to 3-0.
In the fifth inning, the Sycamores used four-straight hits
and an RBI groundout to take a 6-0 advantage.
The Shockers put multiple runners on in the final four
innings, but could not push a run across.
The teams meet in the series finale at 1 p.m. on Sun., May
15.
