Box Score STILLWATER, Okla. - No. 15 Oklahoma State used two runs in
the eighth to take a 5-3 win over Wichita State.
The Cowboys jumped in front 3-0, but the Shockers battled
back to tie it at three on a home run from Preston Springer in the eighth. OSU answered with the go ahead runs in the
bottom of the eighth.
Springer went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Chris O'Brien went
2-for-4 and Micah Green went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Reliever Grant Muncrief took the loss. He pitched an inning and gave up two runs on
three hits.
The Cowboys got on the board with a run in the first. After a leadoff walk to Devin Shines, Zach
Johnson singled with one to put runners at first and second. With two outs, Mark Ginther singled to right
field to score Shines and give the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.
OSU increased the lead to 2-0 in the fifth. After back-to-back singles by Hunter Bailey
and Shines, Dane Phillips sacrificed them to second and third and Bailey scored
on a groundout by Johnson.
Gabe Weidenaar doubled with one out in the sixth and scored
on an infield single by Nico Rosthenhausler and a Shocker error to increase the
lead to 3-0.
The Shockers cut the lead to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the
seventh. Johnny Coy led off with a walk
and moved to second on a bunt by Tyler Coughenour with one out. An infield single by Josh Halbert moved Coy
to third and he scored on a single by Micah Green. Halbert came around to score on a single by
Tyler Grimes.
A home run by Preston Springer in the eighth tied the score
at three, but OSU used back-to-back doubles by Weidenaar and Rosthenhausler and
a two-out single from Shines in the eighth to retake the lead 5-3.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., April 22 when they
host Illinois State for a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
