Box Score DALLAS, Texas - Wichita State won its ninth game of the year
with a 6-2 victory at Dallas Baptist.
Reliever Brian Flynn earned the win going three shutout
innings with one hit and five strikeouts.
Johnny Coy went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a double, while Preston
Springer went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a home run.
The Shockers got on the board in the third inning. After a two-out walk to Tyler Grimes, Preston
Springer hit his first home run of the season to give WSU a 2-0 lead.
DBU cut the lead in half with a run in the third
inning. The Patriots loaded the bases
with no outs off of Shocker starter Tim Kelley, but only managed one run to cut
the lead to 2-1.
The Patriots tied the game at two in the fifth inning. Landon Anderson singled to lead off the
inning, stole second and scored on a single by Austin Elkins.
In the seventh inning, Walker Davidson singled with one out
and after two-out walks to Grimes and Springer, Johnny Coy doubled to right
center to put the Shocks in front 4-2.
Josh Halbert led off the eighth inning with a walk and
scored on a double down the left field line by Don Lambert to put WSU up
5-2. The Shocks added another run in the
ninth. After singles from Coy and Chris
O'Brien to lead off the inning, Halbert drove in Coy with a one-out single to
left field.
The Shockers close out the weekend with a game at UT
Arlington on Sunday at 1 p.m.
