Houston, Texas
- The Wichita State Shockers (7-8) closed their
weekend trip to Houston
with a 5-2 defeat of the Tulane Green Wave (8-9) on Saturday afternoon.
Wichita
State won the No. 2 and
No.3 doubles matches to clinch the doubles point.
"It can be difficult
to play with confidence when it's been a few weeks since our last win," head
coach Colin Foster said. "The pressure
was on us today to beat a team we feel we are stronger than. We competed hard and even though we didn't play
great, confident tennis throughout the day, we ended the day looking strong
across the board."
In singles play the Shockers picked up four wins on their
way to picking up the victory over the Green Wave.
"We've got some things to work on but there were a lot of
positives to build on from today," Foster said.
"Montse and Lutfi both went 2-0 in singles this weekend for us. Lutfi continues to carry herself and compete
like a professional and Montse played some of her best tennis yet."
The Shockers will next be in action when they travel to Reno, Nevada to face the Nevada University.
