Las Vegas, Nevada
- The Wichita State Shockers women's tennis team battled tough weather
conditions and a match delay of 90 minutes in Las Vegas
on Saturday but they still came away with a 5-2 defeat of Denver University.
"The conditions were cold and windy which didn't make for he
prettiest tennis today but we competed very well and found a way to get the
win," head coach Colin Foster said.
" We're now playing with much
better confidence and energy in the doubles than we were earlier in the year,
and we're doing well to carry that over into singles play.
Veronika Blaskova improved to 8-0 and Lutfiana Budiharto to
7-1 this spring with each of their singles victories on Satuday.
Next action for the Shockers will be against the UNLV Rebels
on Sunday.
