Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - A career-high 38 digs from Sarah Waldorf was
not enough as Creighton came back to beat Wichita State in five sets. The Bluejays won by scores of 19-25,
25-23, 13-25, 25-13 and 15-10.
Camri Zwiesler led WSU with 17 kills and 10 digs, while Mary
Elizabeth Hooper became Wichita State's all-time assists leader with 49 in the
match.
A kill by Elizabeth Field put the Shocks in front 9-6 in the
first set, but CU came back to take a 10-9 lead. The two teams went back-and-forth until the Shockers closed
out the set on a 8-1 run to win 25-19.
Creighton used back-to-back kills to pull ahead 12-9 in the
second set before three-straight Shocker kills tied it at 12. The teams traded points until CU scored
five-straight to take a 19-14 lead.
The Shockers rallied to within 24-23, but the Bluejays held on to win
the set 25-23.
The Shockers ran away from the Bluejays in the third
set. A kill by Ashley Andrade gave
WSU a 14-9 lead and WSU went on to win the set 25-13.
The Bluejays took an early 14-10 lead in the fourth set, but
the Shockers came back to tie it at 20 on a kill by Zwiesler. The two teams traded points until CU
scored the final three to win 25-23.
The two teams began the fifth set tied at four, but
Creighton pulled away to take a 7-4 lead with a service ace and the Shockers
got no closer than two the rest of the way as the Bluejays won the set 15-10.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Nov. 5 at Drake at
7 p.m.
