WICHITA, Kan. -
Wichita State fell in three sets to #12 Northern Iowa Saturday evening at
Charles Koch Arena by scores of, 18-25, 22-25, 26-28.
WSU (14-8, 8-4) jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set,
but the Panthers (24-1, 13-0) came back to tie the set at 12. The two teams went back-and-forth until
a UNI block put the Panthers up 19-17.
The Panthers scored the final six points of the set in the 25-18 win.
The second went back-and-forth early until a Panther ace put
UNI up 10-7. A kill by Emily Adney
tied the score at 12, but UNI used back-to-back kills to take a 15-12
lead. WSU pulled no closer than
two the rest of the way as UNI won the set 25-22.
The Shockers jumped out to an early 10-6 lead behind two
consecutive kills from Elizabeth Field followed by two attack errors from UNI.
The Panthers came back to even it up at 13 before the Shockers again gained the
advantage, 17-14. WSU extended their lead to 24-20 before UNI went on a 5-0 run
to take the lead 25-24. The two teams traded points before UNI closed out the
match on an attack error by WSU.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Nov. 4 when they
travel to Creighton.
