Box Score CARBONDALE, Ill. - Wichita State used a double-double from
Emily Adney to defeat Southern Illinois in three sets. The Shockers won by scores of 25-22,
25-17 and 25-13.
Camri Zwiesler led the Shockers with 12 kills, while Adney
had 10 kills and 15 digs. Mary
Elizabeth Hooper added 36 assists.
A kill from Camri Zwiesler gave the Shockers an early 8-5
lead in the first set. SIU came
back to take the lead 11-10 and the set went back-and-forth until a service ace
from Ashley Andrade put the Shockers up three again at 18-15. SIU pulled to within one a couple of
times, but that was as close as they got as WSU closed out the set 25-22 on a
kill by Elizabeth Field.
Back-to-back service aces from Hooper gave WSU a 15-8
advantage in the second set and a Zwiesler kill increased the lead to
19-9. The Shockers went on to win
the set 25-17 on back-to-back kills from Emily Adney.
The Shockers raced out to an 11-3 lead in the third set and
increased the lead to 20-9 on a service ace from Jackie Church. WSU went on to
win the set 25-13.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 21 at Missouri
State at 6 p.m.
