WICHITA, Kan. – John Brewer has been named the Director of Marketing and Promotions for the Wichita State University Athletics Department, Senior Associate Director of Athletics Brian Pracht announced today.
“I'm excited about John joining our staff and feel he will make a significant contribution to Wichita State Athletics,” Pracht said. “As a former student-athlete, John has tremendous passion for college athletics and comes to us from a program similar to WSU in many ways.”
Brewer comes to WSU after three years at the University of New Mexico, including the last two as marketing manager.
A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Brewer earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and English from the University of San Diego. He was a three-year letter winner for the Toreros' men's basketball team.
He also completed his master's degree in Sports Business at New York University in 2005, and was working on an MBA and Ph.D. in Sport Administration while at UNM.
Brewer also gained experience as an Operations Assistant for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden during the 2004-05 season, and also worked a year each as an account executive for Ricoh Business Solutions and Marcus Evans/The Hospitality Group in New York.
John begins his new position at Wichita State June 1.
