Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State took the MVC series with
Wichita State by winning game two 5-4.
Cody Lassley went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a home
run. Starter Tim Kelley took the
loss. He pitched 6.2 innings and gave up
five runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.
The Sycamores opened up the scoring in the third
inning. Ben Ferrell doubled with two
outs and scored on a single by Ryan Strausborger.
The Shockers answered in the fourth inning. Johnny Coy led off with a double and Cody
Lassley hit his seventh home run of the season to put the Shocks up 2-1.
WSU tacked on two more runs in the fifth. Preston Springer led off the inning with a
single to left field and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bret
Bascue. Coy doubled in Springer and then
Lassley singled to left field to score Coy to give the Shocks a 4-1 lead.
INS pulled to within 4-3 after scoring twice in the
sixth. The Sycamores had just one hit in
the inning, but used a hit by pitch, two walks and a sacrifice fly to score the
two runs.
The Sycamores took the lead with two runs in the seventh to
make the score 5-4.
The Shockers are next in action on Sun., April 18 at Indiana
State. First pitch is scheduled for noon
Central time.
