The Shockers tried to respond in the top half of the fourth as Kersti Rowan got the first hit of the game for WSU on a single to centerfield.  Walle got the next batter to hit into a double play and erase the chance of a WSU threat.

Brianna Smet relieved Kasha Kolb in the fourth and got out of an early jam to keep the Shockers within striking distance.  WSU put runners on the corners in the fifth inning with one out on singles by Shook and Temple.  Walle got the next out but was unable to get pinch-hitter Holly Eckert who dropped a single into right-field, scoring Shook.  The Shockers scored another run on a fielding error by the shortstop to cut the deficit in half, 4-2.  Kiersten Dixon kept the inning alive for Wichita State as she laced a single to left, putting runners back at the corners with two out.  Walle was able to get out of the inning without allowing further damage as she retired the next batter on a chopper to third.

Memphis threatened to score in the bottom half of the fifth as a triple by Bernardino and a hit-by-pitch put runners on the corners with one out.  Following a steal of second, Smet was got Maddie McKinley looking for strike three but Rowan and Phillips struck again for the Tigers as Rowan laced an RBI double while Phillips tallied her second home run of the game.

The Tigers continued to tack on the offense as a three-run homer by Kassner sealed the game one win for Memphis as the home team put up seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Walle picks up the win, going five innings allowing two runs on five hits with one strike out.

Game two featured a solid pitching performance from both sides as Shocker Katie Armagost went five innings allowing only one run on three hits and a pair of walks to pick up her first collegiate win.

Her counterpart, Carly Hummel, pitched a complete game for the Tigers and after four innings had allowed only one run.  The WSU offense pushed across one run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Kara L'Huiller and then broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh as L'Huiller hit a bases loaded double to put the Shockers up 4-1.

Jamie Hull, who relieved Armagost in the sixth inning, closed out the game for WSU and gave the Shockers the split with two innings of scoreless relief.
