WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State moved into second-place with a five-set win over Creighton.  The Shockers won by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-13 in front of 2,724 fans at Charles Koch Arena on Friday night.

Mary Elizabeth Hooper led the Shockers with 52 assists and added 13 digs with six kills. Emily Adney and Camri Zweisler led the Shockers with 16 kills each.  Adney added a team high 24 digs.

A kill by Hooper put the Shocks in front 11-8 in the first set, but a kill by Alicia Runge cut the lead to 12-11.  Back-to-back Shocker hitting errors gave CU a 13-12 lead and a kill by Megan Bober increased the Bluejay lead to 15-12.  Sarah McGee ended the Bluejay run with a kill and tied it at 15 with another kill.  The Shockers scored six of the next eight points to go in front 21-17 and won the set 25-21 on a Bluejay service error.

The Bluejays opened up a quick 4-1 lead in the second set, but the Shockers came back to tie it at eight after a CU hitting error.  The two teams went back-and-forth until a kill by Laurel Sanford put the Bluejays up 18-15.  A Runge kill increased the lead to 20-16 and CU went on to win the set 25-20.

CU used a block to go in front 6-3 in the third set, but a kill by Adney gave WSU a 7-6 lead.  A kill by Amanda Backes increased the lead to 9-6 and a kill by McGee made the score 13-6.  The Shockers continued to lead and took a 20-11 advantage after a Bluejay miscue.  An Adney kill finished off the set 25-17.

The Bluejays went in front 5-2 in the fourth set after a Shocker miscue, but the Shockers tied it at eight after a hitting error by the Bluejays.  A block by Karisa Almgren put CU in front 12-10, but a kill by Zwiesler tied the score at 13.  The two teams traded points until a Bluejay block gave CU a 20-17 advantage.  A Zwiesler kill cut the lead to 21-20, but the Bluejays answered with three-straight points to lead 24-20.  CU won the set 25-21 with a block.

The teams traded points in the fifth set until CU grabbed a 5-3 lead after a Shocker miscue.  A kill by Runge increased the lead to 6-3, but the Shockers cut the lead to 6-5 with back-to-back Bluejay hitting errors.  An Almgren kill put CU up 8-5, but the Shockers cut the lead to 9-8 with a block by Elizabeth Field and Backes.  A Bluejay hitting error tied the score at nine and a Zwiesler kill gave WSU a 10-9 lead.  A Shocker hitting error tied the score at 10 and the two teams went back-and-forth until WSU took a 13-11 lead after a CU hitting error.  A McGee kill brought the Shocks to match point at 14-11, but back-to-back Shocker hitting errors made the score 14-13.  A McGee kill ended it at 15-13.

The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Nov. 6 when they host Drake at 7 p.m.
