Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - The Wichita State volleyball team fell in five
sets at Creighton. The Bluejays
won by scores of 25-22, 17-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 15-12.
Emily Adney led the Shockers with 21 kills and 14 digs,
while Camri Zwielser had 17 kills and 13 digs. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 49 assists, nine digs and six
kills while Sarah Waldorf had 21 digs.
CU took an early 10-6 lead with a service ace by Nayka
Benitez. The Shockers pulled to
within 2-20 with back-to-back kills from Emily Adney, but CU held on to win the
set 25-22.
A kill by Camri Zwiesler put the Shocks in front 11-7 in the
second set and a kill by Adney increased the lead to 16-10. Another Zwiesler kill ended the set
with a 25-17 Shocker victory.
The third set went back-and-forth until the Shockers took a
19-16 lead on a kill by Hooper.
WSU held on to win the set 25-22 on a kill by Adney.
The two teams traded points in the fourth set until CU went
up 13-10 on a kill by Allie Oelke.
CU increased the lead to 18-12 after three-straight WSU hitting errors
and went on to win the set 25-18.
The fifth set went back-and-forth until a kill by Alicia
Runge gave CU a 10-8 lead. A kill
by Adney cut the lead to 13-11, but CU hung on to win 15-12.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 15 against
Southern Illinois at 7 p.m.
