Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Wichita State won its 14th
match of the season with a sweep of Indiana State. The Shockers (14-5, 7-3) won by scores of
25-15, 25-14 and 25-17.
Emily Adney and Camri Zwiesler each had 14 kills, while
Zwiesler also added 10 digs. Sarah McGee
added five kills and seven blocks, while Elizabeth Field had six kills. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had a match-high 37
assists and Sarah Waldorf had 12 digs.
The first set went back-and-forth early until WSU went on an
8-1 run to go in front 12-7. Back-to-back
kills from Camri Zwiesler increased the lead to 14-8, while a kill from Emily
Adney made the score 21-13. Zwiesler
ended the set with three-straight kills for the 25-15 Shocker win.
A block by Sarah McGee gave the Shocks an early 9-3 lead in
the second set, but the Sycamores pulled to within 10-7 with three-straight
points. WSU went back in front by six
when another McGee block made the score 16-10.
Back-to-back service aces from Sarah Waldorf increased the lead to 20-11
and WSU won the set 25-14.
The Sycamores grabbed an early 5-2 lead in the third set,
but the Shockers reeled off nine-straight points to take an 11-5 lead. A kill by Elizabeth Field put WSU in front
19-10 and the Shockers won the set 25-17 after back-to-back ISU hitting errors.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Oct. 23 at Illinois
State at 7:05 p.m.
