Angela Buckner Earns Hall of Fame Induction

2010 Inductee Brings Coach-Athlete List to 115

    WICHITA, Kan. — Angela Bucker, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Centennial women's basketball team, three-time All-MVC selection and WSU's all-time leading rebounder, will be inducted into Wichita State University's 2010 Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame.
    The induction ceremony is scheduled for halftime of Wichita State's 7:05 p.m., Feb. 6, men's basketball game against Indiana State, while a luncheon is set for noon, Feb. 6, in the Charles Koch Arena Champions Club.
    “Angela had an outstanding career at Wichita State and is the only Shocker women's basketball player to have more than 1,300 points and 1,200 rebounds and only one of three to be named All-Valley first team three seasons,” said Larry Rankin, Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame Board member and Assistant AD. “Her success, both athletically and academically, set new standards for women's basketball and brought national attention to Wichita State with her rebounding ability.” 
    Cost for the dinner is $20 per person, and paid reservations must be made to the Shocker Ticket Office no later than Fri., Jan. 29, 2010 by calling 316/978-FANS, or in person at the WSU Ticket Office located on the South side of Charles Koch Arena.
    The addition of this year's class brings the total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 115, while there are 12 previous at-large selections.

    •Named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Centennial Team ... A three-time all-Missouri Valley Conference first-team performer, including back-to-back selections in 2003 and 2004 ... Selected MVC Freshman of the Year in 2001 ... A two-time Academic All-MVC selection ... Finished her career as Wichita State's all-time leading rebounder with 1,297, which stood as the second-best mark in league history as well ... Never finished outside the top 10 nationally in rebounding, and ranks 17th on the NCAA career list with 12.1 rebounds per contest in her four-year career ... Owns the school and MVC record and ranks ninth in NCAA history with 67 career double-doubles... Currently stands seventh on the MVC all-time free throws list with 457, which also stands as a WSU school record ... Averaged a double-double her entire career at WSU... Her 703 career free-throw attempts are the fifth-best total in MVC history and also a Shocker school record... Ranks eighth on WSU's all-time scoring list with 1,382 career points ... Started 101 career games, which ranks fifth on WSU's all-time list ... Stands 11th on WSU's all-time blocks list with 54 career rejections.
