Box Score

WICHITA, Kan.— No. 23 Wichita State (6-1) accelerated from hot to smoking against Oral Roberts (4-3) as the Shocks swept, 25-21, 25-19, 25-12.

In the opening set, the Shockers face an early deficit in front of a Tuesday night crowd of more than 3,000 fans at Charles Koch Arena. Using a pair of kills followed by an ace from senior outside hitter Emily Stockman, the momentum swung back in favor of the home team, 16-13. ORU stayed close when a Cassidy Holmes' ace closed the gap, 19-18. Unfazed, senior Stephanie Tokarz and Stockman landed kills to seal the deal, 25-21.

Minus the first point, the Shockers led the entire second set. Fueled by back-to-back kills by Tokarz and Stockman, the home team scored five-straight. Junior middle Sarah McGee and a Golden Eagle service error gave the Shocks a commanding lead, 16-10. Again, ORU battled back, but a pair of McGee kills ended the set in WSU's favor, 25-19.

The Shocks jumped out early and never looked back in the third and final set of the evening. Stockman continued to stay hot, as she landed an ace to push her team ahead, 13-5. The defense rose to the task, as well, notching three blocks during a four-point scoring rally. Senior outside hitter Kim Wadsworth jumped in on the action, nailing three kills for a perfect hitting percentage in the last set. Redshirt freshman outside hitter Dana Loganbill knocked down the last kill of the night to complete the sweep, 25-12.

Stockman led the offense with 12 kills while McGee remained a close second offensive and defensive force with 11 kills, a .647 hitting percentage and six blocks.

The Shockers hit the road for the Rice Invitational. The Shockers open the tournament against Harvard at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
