Box Score NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 13 Oklahoma (30-11) used a big second inning to defeat the Wichita State baseball team (20-20), 8-1, Wednesday evening at Dale Mitchell Park.

With the win, the Sooners sweep the season series with the Shockers while handing WSU its second-straight loss in Norman.

Will Baez was the only Shocker to record multiple hits, going 2-for-4 at the plate as the WSU leadoff hitter.

Tyler Ogle's RBI double and Casey Johnson's three-run home run helped Oklahoma break out to an early lead after a four-run second. Josh Smith (0-2) was charged for all four runs in the frame after walking two and giving up three extra base hits in two-thirds of an inning of work to take the loss.

Charlie Lowell threw well in relief of Dalton Banwart, giving up just one run on three hits while walking just one and striking out four in three innings of work.

The Shockers got on the board in the fifth after Clint McKeever led off the frame with a single to left before stealing second. Taylor Brown then took a full-count pitch to right-center for a two-out RBI double that plated McKeever and cut OU's lead to 4-1.

Oklahoma cushioned its lead with runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh as the Shocker offense could not muster a late rally to get back into the game.

WSU is next in action when the Shockers travel to Waterloo, Iowa this weekend to face UNI.
