Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas ? Wichita State fell to No. 11 TCU 9-4 in game two of a three-game series.
Clint McKeever went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while Will Baez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a triple. Starter Charlie Lowell took the loss going six innings and giving up four earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.
TCU designated hitter Matt Vern hit his second home run of the series with a two-run shot to left field in the second inning off of starter Charlie Lowell. They were the first runs that Lowell allowed in his Shocker career.
The Horned Frogs took a 3-0 lead in the third inning after Ben Carruthers hit a solo shot to left field and TCU added another run in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.
WSU got on the board in the sixth inning. After one-out walks to Will Baez and Chris O'Brien put runners at first and second, Clint McKeever doubled to left center to pull the Shocks to within 4-2.
TCU used a walk and four-straight hits in the seventh inning to take an 8-3 lead and added a run in the eighth for the 9-3 advantage.
The Shockers added a run in the ninth on a single by Andrew Letourneau and a triple by Baez.
The Shockers and Horned Frogs meet for the final game of the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
