Shocks Bust Vikings, 70-59

Box Score WICHITA - Toure' Murry hit a career-high five three pointers, en route to a 17-point outing as the Shockers defeated Cleveland State, 70-59, as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters series in front of 10,443 fans Saturday afternoon inside Charles Koch Arena.

Murry's 17 points led all scorers in the game, while Clevin Hannah added 13 points to the winning cause. J.T. Durley added 11, while A.J. Hawkins and Ramon Clemente each tallied 10 points in the game. D'Aundray Brown and J'Nathan Bullock each scored 12 to lead the Vikings.

Hawkins led all rebounders, grabbing eight boards in the contest. Clemente and Cleveland State's Cedric Jackson each snagged seven boards in the WSU win.

The Shockers used hot shooting to jump out to an early 6-2 lead, but a 6-0 run by Cleveland State allowed the Vikings to take an 8-6 lead by the 15 minute mark. A J.T. Durley lay-up on the first play following a media timeout tied the game once again, and sparked a 12-1 run that pushed the WSU lead to 18-9 by the 11 minute mark. Back-to-back treys allowed WSU to push its lead to 12, 28-16, by the 6:30 mark, but the Vikings ended the half on a 14-6 run, and had drawn within four, 34-30, by halftime.

Cleveland State refused to go away in the second half, pulling to within two on two separate occasions over the first five minutes of the second period, but Murry took matters into his own hands, draining a three that gave the Shockers a five-point 43-38 advantage at the 14:25 mark. Hannah nailed a jumper two minutes later before a three-point shootout erupted. The two teams combined to hit five-straight three-pointers over the next three minutes, three of which came from Murry as the freshman pushed his team's lead back out to six, 54-48, with 8:22 remaining. Murry's last three ignited a 9-0 run that gave WSU a 12-point edge, 60-48, with exactly four minutes remaining in the contest, and the Shockers held on for 70-59 win, breaking the 70-point plateau for just the fourth time this season.

The Shockers shot 54.2 percent from the field in the game, and nailed 10 of 16 treys to finish with a 62.5 percent mark from long range. Cleveland State finished the game shooting an even 46 percent from the field.

Wichita State will play its final regular season home game Tuesday when the Indiana State Sycamores come to town. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
