NORMAL, Ill. ? Illinois State used a 14-4 run late in the game,
and handed the Shockers a 74-59 loss Wednesday evening inside Redbird Arena.

Hannah led all scorers with 21 points in the game, while A.J. Hawkins grabbed
five rebounds to lead WSU.
Champ
Oguchi was responsible for 16 Redbird points, while Brandon Sampay grabbed
seven rebounds to lead all rebounders.
For the
second-consecutive game, the Shockers started off hot, jumping out to an 8-0
lead, and holding the Redbirds scoreless for the first four minutes of the game.
The Redbirds wasted very little time crawling back into the game. A 7-0 spurt brought
the hosts to within one, 8-7, by the 14:42 mark. After battling back-and-forth
over the next seven minutes, Illinois State took a 21-18 lead at the 7:05 mark; a lead it held for the
remainder of the half. The ?Birds led by as many as seven with less than two
minutes remaining in the half, but a Graham Hatch three with a minute to play
pulled the black-clad guests to within three, 32-29, at halftime.
After
watching the Redbird lead grow to as many as five, the Shockers used a 6-0
spurt capped by a Ramon Clemente contested lay-up to take a 39-38 lead at the
16 minute mark. After exchanging the lead numerous times over the next nine
minutes, Illinois State used a six-point spurt to take a
56-51 lead by the seven minute mark, and put together a 14-4 run to lead 70-55
by the 2:30 mark, and held on for the 74-59 win.
Wichita State shot 42.2 percent in the game, but
was just 26.3 percent from long range. Illinois State finished the game shooting exactly
50 percent, and hit nine three pointers behind a 47.4 percent effort from
three-point land.
The
Redbirds out-rebounded the Shocks 35-26.
The
Shockers are back in action Saturday when they host Cleveland State Saturday afternoon in an ESPN
Bracket Busters contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:05 inside Charles Koch Arena.
