Shocks Down Sycamores 3-1

Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Wichita State closed out the regular-season with a 3-1 win over Indiana State.  The Shockers (23-5, 14-4) won by scores of 21-25, 25-12, 25-18 and 25-14.

Emily Stockman and Sarah McGee each had 12 kills while Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 45 assists and Melissa Granville had 13 digs.

The teams traded points early in the first set before back-to-back WSU hitting errors put the Sycamores up 10-7.  WSU came back to take a 12-11 lead after an ISU hitting error, but the Sycamores came back to take a 15-14 lead with a kill.  Another kill increased the Sycamore lead to 19-15 before a kill by Katie Niggemeyer cut the lead to 21-19.  The Sycamores held the Shockers off in their 25-21 win.

The Shockers raced out to a 7-1 lead in the second set and increased it to 12-4 after a kill by Sarah McGee.  WSU continued to cruise and grabbed a 19-9 lead on a kill by Emily Stockman and won the set 25-12 on a kill by McGee.

Back-to-back service aces by Stockman gave WSU a 7-3 lead in the third set and a kill by Emily Adney increased the advantage to 17-10.  ISU pulled to within 23-18 with a block but WSU closed out the set 25-18 with another kill from Stockman.

A McGee kill put the Shocks up 7-3 in the fourth set and a Stockman kill increased the lead to 15-7.  The Shockers continued to roll in the set and won 25-14 on an ISU hitting error.

The Shockers are next in action at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Nov. 26-28 in Omaha, Neb.
