Shocks Sweep Braves

Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - Wichita State earned its 15th win of the season with a sweep of Bradley.  The Shockers (15-4, 6-3) won by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-16.

Emily Stockman had nine kills, 12 digs and four service aces, while Kim Wadsworth also had nine kills.  Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 33 assists, while Sarah McGee added eight kills and four blocks.

The Shockers raced out to a 13-3 lead in the first set after a service ace by Amanda Backes.  The Braves cut the lead to 20-15 with a kill, but WSU cruised to a 25-19 first set win.

In the second set, WSU again started fast taking a 13-5 lead after a kill by Sarah McGee. BU was able to cut it to 20-15 with a kill, but back-to-back kills by Kim Wadsworth closed out the set 25-17 for WSU.

Three-straight kills put the Shocks up 9-4 in the third set and a kill by Wadsworth increased the lead to 18-11.  The Braves cut the lead to five late in the set, but a kill by Mary Elizabeth Hooper ended the set 25-16.

The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 23 against Missouri State at 7 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
